I agree a yorkie 10 lbs or more would be fine but The problem with getting a puppy is you dont know what size it will grow to. I think you should try to get one from someone rehoming one or try to go through a rescue if you can find a rescue that will let you adopt because some wont with young children. We waited untill my Daughter was 5 to get our puppy. He is now 11 lbs and has worked out to be a good family dog. After him I got a female and she is 6 lbs and wants nothing to do with children. Your children could be taught to be very careful around a yorkie but accidents happ-en also you will have neighbor children in your home and they havent been taught how to be with a small dog
