The SPCA has a program that addresses this issue -- "seniors for seniors." If a senior citizen will take a dog that is at least 7 years old, the adoption fee is reduced to $15. The older dogs are calmer and more settled, and the senior gets the positive health benefits from having a pet, it's a win-win. |

I totally agree with this. The older dogs are the least likely to be adopted and in my opinion make the BEST pets ever as they have seen the world as far as training goes & they are the most grateful to be rescued. They are so Loving & kind and make wonderful pets for anyone not just seniors. I have taken many seniors out of shelters and not regretted a one of them. All they want to do is please you and they are so soulful they climb straight into your heart.
