I keep Charlee in a long coat, and I did find that her fur was breaking a bit where the BB buckled. My friend's Silky terrier's coat broke down really short, and then her fur began to grow back in a darker colour. When I asked a BB representative about it at a show, he mentioned it can sometimes be a problem for certain dog breeds and certain coat types. It is a problem that can easily be fixed by wearing a t-shirt under the harness, or by keeping your dog in a short cut.
As I said, I don't want to dampen the enthusiasm for these harnesses because I do love so much about it...but thought I should mention it so you can try it for a while before buying more than one!!

I agree, the BB can break hair on long coats. My younger boy has breakage between his shoulder blades. I think the BB sat a little funny on him because he is so bony. We have a larger size on the way for him and I'm hoping it will make a difference. If not, well he is not a show dog, so I won't worry too much.
