I keep a harness (buddy belt) on Snickers at all time. He wears an ID tag and bell on it. I'm also with the others who say if they can't hear the jingle of the bell, their dog is in trouble! I've got a little troublemaker too.
When we got Snickers he had a tiny collar on. A few days after he came to live with us he was somehow able to hook it in his mouth and it started to choke him. He screamed like it was bloody murder! My husband, who usually carries a pocket knife did not have it (for seemingly the first time ever!) and we could hardly undo it, because the dog was in such a state of panic. Never again will he wear a collar because of that alone. It was a scary moment.
He also used to try to bite his harness all the time too and liked to chew on it. But, since we switched to a buddy belt, he doesn't do it anymore. The buddy belt is much more difficult for him to get in his mouth because of the position it sits on the chest.
