Diarrhea can be from a number of things. Over excitement, stress, change in diet, water, parasites, infection, etc....
If your baby still is not feeling well w/in a day or so I would take him to the vet.
Offering rice, tapioca, cooked macaroni might be helpful for a couple days as his tummy/intestines will need time to heal. Also, it is okay to give diarrhea mediction for human babies but call a vet first for the correct dosage. Make sure this medication does not contain salt.
Rubbing his bottom is most likely due to being irritated from his loose stools.
It is important that your baby continues to drink water and stay hydrated.
Just please remember if you feel it is serious please take him to a vet or an emergency vet if your normal vet care office is closed over the holidays.
