I thought that my little girl was going to seriously hurt herself she barked so much when I put her in her crate...
Each time she went in she got a treat. No treat coming out.
I did 10 minutes in her crate and 10 minutes out, unless she was barking while inside the crate. if she was barking and it passed 10 minutes she stayed in until she was done barking.
The first day I sat next to the crate while she was in it. The second day was 50/50 me sitting with her and me going outside but I just made sure to NEVER let her out while she was barking. My dog trainer friend stressed this. She told me that they will think they will get their way if they take a fit.
Eventually she stopped barking and I can now put her in her crate and she is fine.
I crate/potty trained her. After she went potty where I took her, she got a treat and got to free roam the house for a bit. Then back in the crate she went :P
I blocked half of the crate off (she was only 1 pound) so she only had room to turn around and lay down. This way she would hold her potties, instead of potty on one side and lay on the other.
It all worked and she was crate/potty trained fully in less than a month.
