This frightens the heck out of me! We know of some people that had their little chihuahua taken off a sand bar they were at on the river. The children and the mother saw it happen!! I can't tell you how many times we have been out on the river with my yorkies running around (until this happened).
I have always let my dogs run around in our fenced yard in town (ND) and have never thought a thing about this. NOW, we are going to be retiring down in NW Ark. The house we just bought is on a hill with woods, overlooking a golf course. I had my fenced yard all planned out where I would put it and I met a neighbor that warned me that there are eagles, owls, halks, and cyotes!!!!!!!!!! Now I am looking at a kennel, with a cover over the top!! It will be so different for my dogs not having the run of a yard but I will NOT take chances. I guess either they will be in the kennel or leashed with me on a walk.
