Hope I'm not posting this twice.
My Bichon came with a limited registration because he has a "corkscrew tail" ---- a very serious fault in a Bichon.
The breeder required that I neuter my Bichon before she sent me the papers. The papers I received stated that he had a "Limited Registration and that any pups he might have could not be registered."
This is the way it should be. Purebred dogs with nonstandard faults should not be bred. And, a "Limited Regististration" helps keep this from happening.
Now I have my Yorkie. His registration is not limited, but after having him for a while, I know he should not be bred either. He is going to be larger than standard, and I have a feeling that his colors may end up way off base.
A lot of faults do not show up until a puppy becomes older. For this reason, breeders and (educated) owners both need to be aware of purebred standards and breed only to improve or maintain them. But - the world is far from perfect - right?
