We have been on the receiving end of bad haircuts. I've found that it was due to the differences in the way us "lay people" describe things versus the way a professional uses the terms. I've had better luck with bringing in pictures versus just telling them what to do, especially if it's my first time seeing them.
Thankfully, it's just hair and will grow back. Your baby is cute either way.
