Yes, I always start out with a vet check-up when something fairly major changes and my dog isn't behaving normally just as you did. Once any medical problem is ruled out or being dealt with, I feel comfortable to try to figure out what else may be going on with me or the dog. But going from pretty constant momma time to living alone for long periods is probably hard to adjust to now but she will. I got my Jilly while I still worked full time and I swear if I came home earlier than usual once she got older, she was so adjusted to her little schedule of what she did during the day, she often acted a little funny at first. She was happy and dancing around but then she would just stare at me as if wondering why things were different on that day. I've noticed my Jilly and now my Tibbe LOVE to do things on a schedule so that they can predict with great delight what I am about to do depending upon the time of day and other circumstances. It seems like anything much that interferes with that schedule is not always readily accepted unless it really enriches their lives. And let's face it, that is not always possible. But with your girl, it sounds like it could be both medical and stress and sounds like momma is dealing with everything as best she can to help her baby.
