We've had many threads about this, and the thing I didn't know is that many vet will suggest staying all night EVEN THOUGH there is no one at the hosiptal to check on them. The believe that at least the dogs won't be over-stimulated as they might be at home, but if there was no one to check in on them, I think they would be much safer at home, at least you can get them to an emergency clinic. We took Joey home the same night, and just didn't let him climb the stairs or jump off furniture. Don't forget to follow instuctions concerning no food so many hours before surgery, that's why many dogs are sick afterwards. Best of luck!
