What really does it for me is that the first vet didn't think she was pregnant and 'believed' it was Lyme disease. First off, false pregnancies don't have contractions associated with them. Secondly, if KAS thought she was in labor, she would have been far enough along, had there been a pregnancy, for any vet to feel a pup and wouldn't have to guess.
And how could the symptoms of a dog showing signs of labor to the OP be the symptoms of Lyme disease to a vet? Labor symptoms and Lyme disease symptoms are not even close in the way they present themselves. And why 'believe' she had Lyme disease. Why not just do a simple blood test and find out? Did the first vet not have needles, either?
And it's still a mystery why Bailey responded positively to calcium supplements, given that she has Lyme disease....but good of the OP to just happen to have them on hand.
Having said this, I hope 'Bailey' is feeling much better today. |
Throughly agree with all of this, this was one of the first threads posted on the subject:
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yt-...ght-labor.html, never thought at the time to ask, "Are you sure the dog is pregnant?" I have read that question before in other threads, and the reply given, was very harsh.
