I wrote in my earlier post in this thread -- No -- dogs do not go thru menopause and can theoretically be fertile for life. But as they age, female heats do get errattic and usually further between. They seem to be less fertile as they get older but no sure stop to cycles without a spay.

All those that believe in absolute spay & neuter should read the paper I linked -- their are a lot of other considerations. It is not all about size & pups. I know I can safely spay my girl but I will also be increasing the risks of so many other things and besides stopping fertility, the other benefits are pretty small.
