You can try visiting some of the grooming shops in your area, owner/groomer type, not something like Pet smart or shops owned by someone else who just hires a bunch of groomers.
You can talk to them, see if they are interested in training you should you continue with this idea.
But I think the best first step, is to see if you can hang out in a good shop, help them for a day or two for free, kind of like volunteer. That will give you a much better idea of what is really involved in being a professional grooming in a shop. It is not what you likely think it is from the previous experience you have had doing your own a friends maltese.
