My Reesie came from an amazing breeder right here on YT. He never had to fight for anything while he was raised. Reesie is a VERY active and in your face type of pup and he feels that if we give him something he needs to gobble it down b/c we have another dog, Snickers who he competes with to see who can get it 1st or who can get the most. You have to think about the dynamic of each family and how it runs before saying things. We tried leaving Reesie's water out 24/7 and he would gulp it all down and then would potty all over the house. The monitoring and frequent offerings is perfect for us. Sometime he refuses the water we offer it so often. His potty training is coming along well also b/c we know when he takes water, he needs to go about 20 min afterward. I do feel water should be available to younger pups!!!!!

Every family is different and this works for mine.
