I wonder if he may have been spooked by a loud noise or something? My Suzi is scared to death if the fire alarm goes off, she shakes too. She also shakes when I place her on the grooming table. Maybe he saw something new or different that frightened him? I know it takes a while for Suzi to calm down when she gets very scared.
However, it still can be something more serious. Calling the vet is a good idea if he's still not acting right.
