Hello,

My name is Lynne, Tomorrow we are adopting a 2 year old male Yorkie. This will be a family pet, but mostly for my 12 year old girl who has been asking for a dog for a quite a while now. He weighs about 8 lbs.

I have been reading about this breed, and have made the choice to keep his coat short, We live in a very hot climate (already in the 80's here)
I know dental health is important,

The family we are getting him from will be giving us some wet and dry foods. Should I just keep buying what they have been feeding him?

His health record may be a little light, This is an army family, Husband is deployed overseas and the family are going to be with him. My plans is to take the dog to the vet ASAP, to get whatever is needed.

Any suggestions, tips please!
