If you had a valuable/much needed bitch in your breeding program and there was a mismating...you can go the injection route...giving the breeder another opportunity try for a litter with that bitch...all the injection does is prevent implanting..and must be done in 24 hrs. as I recall.

Otherwise, I can think of no other reason to do this...I would always go for a spay.
I would not breed a bitch who was too old, anesthesia problems, surgical risk to begin with...

A surgical abortion sounds like opening the uterus and removing the pups...and I have never heard of a dog having a D and C...but I also have never had a number one in the breed bitch, so I do not know to what lengths a breeder might go...

I believe all human life is sacred..I do not believe all animal life is...I believe in doing what is best for the bitch in question.
