I'm a bit late seeing this... Seriously, no dog should be released from the vet's till they're up and walking around.
If they go home early, they should be put on a heating pad (on 'Low' setting), and try to wake them up and help them up and offer a very small amout of water and food. Give them a chance to urinate.
Then, if they are not up allow them to sleep another hour, then try again, and keep trying till they can get up on their own. Monitor them closely until they are up and about, and no longer woosie.
They may not be 100%, but they should be functional. Offer very small amounts of food and water every 1/2 - 1 hour until they are satiated. If they down a bowl of water after fasting and surgery, they could become sick and aspirate on the vomit.
