My Zada had both knees operated on at the same time, and yes, it will take 6 to 8 weeks of confinement in order for her to heal properly.
I put Zada in her expen attached to the front of her crate, a pee pad down along with water and chewys. She stayed in that for the first two weeks, then after that I took her in the yard (harness and leash on) to let her potty, and walk a little bit twice a day for a week, then three times a day, then four times a day for about 4 more weeks. She got stronger each week.
Since you slept with your baby, I'd suggest putting a chair by your bed and put her in a crate and on the chair. She may whine, but you just can't let her be in the bed with you at all. You must stay strong during her healing. You would't want her to damage her knees and risk another surgery.
