I can't imagine why someone would EVER suggest a pound. Even one with a low kill rate (30%) is still 30% too high.

BTW- I HAVE volunteered at pounds, so I feel no need to shush and I think it's exceedingly rude to tell others to shush if they haven't. They are horrible places that NO do deserves to be dumped in. Like it or not, your friend took on the responsibility for that free dog when she picked it up from the wally world parking lot. It's her responsibility to place it in another home or with no kill rescue. The poor dog didn't ask to be in this mess, it shouldn't be the one who has to suffer.
