I understand.. you love your pom and you want a new puppy but don't want your pom upset or unhappy. I think you may need to rethink this pup... if it is really important to have a STANDARD size yerk and this pup is looking to be larger. I do feel strong about not feeding the correct amount hopping the pup will not grow as much.. it will not work.
The pup will be part of your home for many many years, try to make sure you have a good match.
If you were wanting a tiny tiny pup because of image I would wonder, but you would be happy with the larger end of standard which is 7 lbs. Also, I understand your reasons for wanting a puppy that is not too large nor too small. No one can be 100% of a puppy's size.. but there are some guidelines and your guy will be larger than 8 lbs.
