I have four dogs that are chipped. The cost ranged from $13 to $26, including lifetime registration.
None of my four have ever had a problem and I cannot feel their chips.
My smallest is just over 5 pounds now, but was chipped at 2-3 lbs (with her spay). Roxy was chipped while awake (before her spay). She didn't even cry for the chip and she screams like a banshee during vaccinations.
