After doing some research I found that our local SPCA is a Kill shelter, so spent the morning with the dogs taking turns jumping up into my lap, with each one taking turns being "King of the Mountain" while the other ones jump up. I figured if Cesar Milan wouldn't give up at this point I wasn't going to either.
I also saw some actual signs of bonding between the dogs today, and decided that we were going to visit the vet instead of the shelter. Well we did end up visiting the shelter as well, but only to get the medical records they neglected to add to my dog kit. I saw someone turning in two dogs and almost burst into tears.
She will be crated as long as it takes, forever if necessary when I'm not home. I only work 4-6 hour shifts 4-5 days a week, so I think we can live with that.
Anyway, bottom line is I think she deserves her chance here, & of course the yorkies like her, so it's all a stepping stone....wish us luck!
