Thanks for the suggestion Maximo. I never thought of it like that. Like I said, we are new parents and really want to do what's best for our little guy, now and in the long term. My husband and I absolutely need to discuss the use of a pen further. I really appreciate your care and concern (and knowledge!). You are right, it's easy for a vet to say "not" to do something...but they are not the ones living through it in our home!
