This isn't necessarily true. I am currently talking with one of the best, most successful exhibitor breeders in TX and she lets her puppies go to pet homes for $1000. I also talked to another breeder who wanted $2000 - again, it is about homework! When you find a good breeder it is not about making money, but recouping expenses.
