Everytime I decide to take him to the vet he gets better adn the limp goes away. I have had other dog lovers over to visit and they seem to think I am overreacting (which is very possible) because he runs and jumps so much.

Even though the symptoms may come and go with limping, he could have something stuck in his pads or something or something is bothering him if he is licking at it and holding it up while walking. It sounds like it bothers him so I think I'd take him to a vet if he were mine.
