Our baby is almost 2 years old and weighs 2.9 lbs. We had the same exact situation- we had to wait until she was 7 months old which put her at 2.3 lbs, so we got her spayed then. I was SO scared and cried when we dropped her off but she did AMAZING. She woke up fine after surgery and came home with us that night. I know exactly how you feel; it is very scary, but the vet would not push it if he did not feel comfortable. A big reason he may be pushing it is that the earlier it gets done, the risk of cancer drops tremendously. I did a ton of research on spaying such small dogs and you can find some scary stuff on the internet but don't listen to it! The surgery will only take a few hours and then it will be done and you never have to worry about it again! Our teeny tiny babies are stronger than they look! Hope this helps ease your mind a little bit because I was in the same exact situation and my girl hasn't slowed down since that day!
