Our baby is almost 2 years old and weighs 2.9 lbs. We had the same exact situation- we had to wait until she was 7 months old which put her at 2.3 lbs, so we got her spayed then. I was SO scared and cried when we dropped her off but she did AMAZING. She woke up fine after surgery and came home with us that night. I know exactly how you feel; it is very scary, but the vet would not push it if he did not feel comfortable. A big reason he may be pushing it is that the earlier it gets done, the risk of cancer drops tremendously. I did a ton of research on spaying such small dogs and you can find some scary stuff on the internet but don't listen to it! The surgery will only take a few hours and then it will be done and you never have to worry about it again! Our teeny tiny babies are stronger than they look!
