We also waited until Lucy was about a year old. BAT testing had turned up some mild liver issues and even the Vet wanted to wait after that. A second BAT test showed only VERY MILD issues and the Vet was ready.
But I wasn't . . quite! We waited until she was almost a year old and as close to 4 lbs as she was going to get. We were going to move and I wanted a trusted Vet to to do the procedure. I went through the anesthesia protocol with him and he answered all the questions correctly!
She did fine and also had a few retained baby teeth removed as well.
I have a male dog, Ringo, but he had been neutered so I wasn't worried about any 'oopsie pregnancy".
I'm glad it's over and done though.
