Confused Essays: Chicago style, APA, MLA, HELP!!

Ok, so I started college last term and I was introduced to APA format.
This term I have to write a paper for my history class and I have to used the Chicago style of notes and bibliography! I am still confused enough about APA, lol!

Can anyone help me regarding the Chicago notes and bibliography style?
What I am mainly confused about is if I am citing the same source several times, how do I number that and how is it displayed in the footnotes?
For example, let's say I use Book A 3 times on one page, would I number all three instances of Book A as number 1 or 1-3 and does it get listed 1 or three times in footnotes?

I don't know if that makes sense or not, I hope it does to somebody!
Thanks in advance!
