I hope they said once a month and would be absolutely correct in doing so. If you have been giving it every two months I'd be retesting and starting to give it every month.
You don't need another dewomer unless tapeworms are suspected (flea issue or whatever). Some will give extra because they hate the thought of worms. Others wll give extra if they have kids because they can't supervise everything said kids do which may include playing by dog's butt or in its mouth.
