As young as he is, I would suggest putting him in an x-pen with a pad at one end and his bed, food, water, toys at the other end. If you don't have a tiled floor to put this on, use something like a vinyl shower curtain to line the bottom first. When you're not playing or interacting with him, he should be in the x-pen. He's too young to be running around and this will give him a greater chance of success, as well as keep him safe. Maybe some others will have some other ideas to help you. Let us know how it goes.
