Thanks for the tips guys!
He actually is confined to one room now, by gates. (He kept pooping upstairs continually so we gated him to one room when we are gone) His potty pad is right near his bed but every night he continues to poop on the carpet.

We take him out last around 11'ish and in the morning around 8. He sleeps in the living room, not in our bedroom, so he couldn't really "wake us up" to go if he had to. But thats what his potty pad is for at night. (Its there all day too)
We thought since he's used a pottypad for 3 years he would still know to go on it at night like always, we wonder why he likes to poop on the actual carpet? The funny thing is- he knows its wrong I think- when we come in the morning and see it, he looks away from us and wants to hide.
Very strange... also we have beige carpet so waking up to poop stains
every morning is super frustrating! Especially since he's been trained for 3 years. Just dont want to crate him or take away his food since he's a grazer but we are just super confused as to why it has to be on the carpet.
