I agree, and am checking out the info you presented, I think I might do another at some point with another company and the same company again to verify my own lil result study-I've too much time on my hands right now for hobby stuff!

All the test did for us was confirm suspicions, of hypothesis. I really hope we see a lot more in the way of advancement personally. I'm not sure if the company my vet used was 'the best', she said it was at that time though, maybe to the general public it was, but that was a couple years ago, and even in that time the changes and advancements in this field have been vast.
Unfortunately some of these companies are kind of fly by night, or jumping on the band wagon and it's important people check the identifiable breeds listed and the reputation of the company itself...there was an independent blind labs study that disproved many companies results that many "naysayers" readily site...but the blind part of the sudy was breeders bringing in their dogs they "guarenteed" were of specific ancestry...and again its like any other product on the market, errors happen and there are vast differences in quality depending on the company creating the product and doing the testing.
I was amazed to see the AKC trusts the results from certain companies in parentage associated issues, and DNA testing for genetic research.

There's been a lot of bad press on the accuracy of Test like these, but, so far, anyone who has brought that up to me, has not offered any empirical evidence in support of anything beyond heresay. I've always thought, that a lot of the dissension about accuracy, was probably started because someone didn't want anybody checking up on what they sold. At some point in time, these naysayers are going to have to admit that Technology Rules, and print out some RMA's. |
