You might also want to contact breeders and let them know you might be interested in a retired momma. Most of the time these girls are under 5-6 years old, health checked, and have great temperaments. Plus most breeders just want to find excellent homes for their retired girls and don't ask for much money to rehome them to a great home. When I retire a momma I just ask for enough to pay for their spay and teeth cleaning.
