what kind of clippers are you using? are they really loud?

When I'm introducing clippers to a puppy I first let the pup sniff the clippers while off. Then I turn them on and let them investigate (not near the moving parts though). Then I touch the clippers to the back end of the dog. I use the clipper body and not the blade, just so the pup can experience the vibrating of the clipper. After that I put the clipper to the body and go.

I always do any and all grooming with the dog on a table with a grooming loop. Be gentle but firm. let the pup know you are going to cut his hair whether he likes it or not and it has to be done. talk to the pup the whole time and give treats when he offers good behavior. do not coddle or give in when he freaks out. Lastly, always end on a good note.
