I think it's a great idea to have your dd share in the responsibility of caring for a pet....it will teach her alot. My children, especially my 16 yo ds, will help out with caring for Trixie, but not on a regular basis...more on an as needed basis....like if they see her water is empty, food is empty....poops on the peepee pad (or not on the pad ). But it is rare that need to help out. They will take her for walks, play with her in the yard etc. and they spend lots of time with her when they are home, but her care is my responsibility and I like it that way. Kudos to you though!
