When I play catch with Thor in the house, he loooooves jumping on the couch for his treat. And then when I throw the toy again, he jumps off. I can make sure he uses a cushion for the jump offs. Also, I tend to encourage him to jump out of the car. I don't even know why I do that. That will stop.

Thor may never need surgery. Just do your best to keep his jumping to a minimum.
No, they do not get LP in their front legs....there are no knees in the front legs.
