I don't think it matters the type of dog....they usually are in heat for 3 weeks. The first week they will bleed and will not accept a male, the second week they stop bleeding and that is when they will accept a male, then the third week they bleed again. Just best to keep her away from a male for a good long 3 weeks. In the mean time, if the male is in the same home, get prepared...they go NUTS! We usually move our male to another room in the house so that we can get some peace.
