One of mine has LP but does not need surgery at this time. Many yorkies do live their lives with LP and never need surgery. So it is not a guarantee that your baby will need the surgery. My orthopedic surgeon doesn't recommend surgery until at least grade 4 usually. So far we are managing only with Dasaquin and no other lifestyle changes and she hasn't progressed past a 1.
