Default Luxating Patella...3 for 3!

My little Gabriella has luxating patellas on both hind legs it appears. Both of my previous Yorkies had the same problem! What luck. I am more miffed at the breeder as I specifically asked her if the parents had this problem, as this is a highly genetic condition. Gabi was 3 1/2 mos. when I got her and I believe she knew already that she had this problem. Pretty evasive when I asked....oh, well, I wouldn't trade my baby for anything, just hate to have to put her through surgery some day. When I had my previous Yorkies surgeries, the recovery was not too bad. They looked pretty pathetic for awhile and a little handicapped with one leg bandaged, but I would say within 4 weeks or so, they were back to normal. I am keeping Gabi's weight down to her maximum of 4 lbs. and discourage any jumping as much as possible. This is a progressive condition and when it becomes apparent that the dog is experiencing constant pain, it is time to have surgery. So if any of you feel some popping going on when you pick up and hold your Yorkies, you might want to get that looked at by a Vet.
