I totally agree with learning about health issues and I think most of all make sure you have a vet that knows a yorkies particular issues because they are not like an average pet. My Charlie was very sick lst year to the tune of almost 3 grand. the biggest problem... my first vet. she did not know what needed to be looked at even when I brought it to her attention. and trust me I know that you have to be careful about what you read on the internet but I did my homework and when my poor Charlie was close to death I let the vet have it and went elsewhere.

Dont get me worng, the vet was not new to me, I had used her from the very beginning of owning Charlie and she was fine for routine puppy stuff but she did not know about the special needs of a yorkie and neither did I but now I know what to watch for and I have a vet that knows what to do. They are so very special please learn all you can before getting one and the above posts are right this IS a good place to learn things.
