It varies, as it has some breed specificity, but it is also size specific.
According to clinical nutritional and anatomy guides small breeds phase out of adulthood and into what is termed the Geriatric stage around 7-8 years old. Normally this phase should equate to a 1/3 or more of their lifespan. Yet, this is dependent upon several factors, such as environment, genetics, and the big one, nutritional history. Going into this phase we should make sure that our pups are at their prime physical condition as this is the period where deterioration starts.
