Yes it is very possible and very likely.
I have one altered male and one unaltered male they didn't fight through my females first two heats but both attempted to well ya know...get to her...my unaltered male was kept completely away from her while my altered male stayed with her but he still "mounted" we laughed he was fixed very young and well he would mount her head!

With her third and last heat we had a fight here...no one was hurt but it wasn't fun and they never have fought before or after...the marking and the stanching and the challenging of each other was the issue...but then again the real issue was with the neighbor dogs on both sides one altered male and one unaltered male...both of them were very interested also...

Although my aunt's altered male came over and he didn't have any interest in my female or in competing for her attention...he's an older dog though, not sure it matters.
