Sounds icky...try getting some bear urine scent from a hunting goods store (puma urine works too) a must have for those who live in coyote or wolf territory with domestic animals...well and without bears around!

Lights and even daylight will not detour a hungry coyote...but I'd leash my babies at night even going in the yard to potty and carry bear mace.
personally I'm raccoon most but also skunk and possum paranoid here...
