I used white vinegar. There are websites that promote the use of both...so not sure. Ask your vet anyway.
As for getting it in the eyes, there is no reason for that. I mixed it in a small container and poured it over the body...not the head. If there is a fungus on the ears, you can dab it on with cotton balls.
One thing I would avoid is putting it on any open lesions.
