Wouldn't worry too much for toy breeds. Chances of urinary incontinence go up the earlier you do it. Wouldn't be concerned about a month making a difference except for that aspect of it. Five months is really not that early anyway.
I personally prefer for small breeds to be spayed before their first heat. Osteosarcoma is something I'm definitely not a fan of and it is not uncommon in large breeds, so with the larger breeds I get more concerned about s/n at 6-7 months and would consider waiting if I had a pup...
