I purchased an Outward Hound car seat, similar (in looks, not quality)to the Solvit, for our Graysee, when she was a small puppy, and it worked well enough while she was small. Once she became full-grown, however, it lacked the proper quality to protect her, as I found out one day when I had to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision; she flew right out of the seat, and was dangling by the tether! Since she has grown a bit larger than a "breed standard" Yorkie, I have found a better choice called Fido Rido. It's made right here in the USA, from the same type of material as a child's car seat. It is injection-molded plastic, is considerably larger than most, and comes with dual straps (or "seat belts"), with a harness that has attachment rings for the seat straps. You can find it online just by typing in fidorido.com. I like it because it is tall enough so our Graysee can stand up and look out the rear seat window. I've customized mine by adding some extra cushioning under the faux lambswool cover. Graysee loves it! There are two-seaters available, also. |
