BE VERY CAREFUL. not sure if Nova Scotia's coyote issues made the news all over the place, but we now have an active bounty out for them. Hunters actually get money for them because there have been so many problems. There was actually a young singer killed by a coyote (mind you she wasn't the smartest person hiking in the woods on her own) but nonetheless the poor girl didn't deserve to lose her life. These stories prove that these animals are very hungry and will not always be scared of humans.
We have coyotes around mom's barn, we never leave the horses out at night, and we've lost cats to them.
