I think it depends on the dog and it's household. If the dog isn't social then I'd opt for an only. Also are you willing to accept the responsibilities with Double the everything.

For me, I think Troy would do well with another dog. He's social and get's along with just about every dog. But for our household adding a second is a no go. Not only for expense, it's a time concern with us. It's simple to be able to take Troy with us on trips.And my bf who isn't a dog person can only tolerate one.
